- Summary: Develop an Ocsigen application to visualize large datasets online.
- Required skills:
Scientific applications increasingly rely on very large datasets, which can be comprehended only by sophisticated visualizations. This project proposes to develop an Ocsigen application for online visualization of bioinformatics datasets. Prior examples of such work are the UCSC Genome Browser, which allows to view data on an x-axis whose units range from 0 to several hundreds of millions, and Cytoscape, which enables interactive visualization of graph structures with tens of thousands of nodes. The student will have access to high performance computing facilities at New York University if needed. The goal will be to engineer a website based on Ocsigen's Lwt library and any other tools needed to provide performant interactive data visualizations online.
